Venice is one of those rare places that feels made for honeymooners. The soft morning light on the canals, the silence before the city wakes up, the narrow calli with no one around — it’s a completely different world from the Venice you see in travel guides.
I specialize in honeymoon photography sessions in Venice that feel natural and unhurried. No posing, no rushing from one landmark to the next. Just the two of you, exploring the city together while I follow along with my camera.
Most couples choose an early morning session — we meet around 7am near the Rialto or San Polo, and by 9am you have a full gallery of images that actually look like Venice, not a tourist snapshot. If you’re staying at a hotel with a private terrace or garden, we can start there and work our way through the streets as the city slowly comes alive.
The best locations for honeymoon photos in Venice
These are the spots I return to again and again with couples — each one offers something completely different depending on the mood you’re looking for:
San Marco Square — completely magical in the early morning when the square is empty and the light skims across the stone. Unrecognizable from the crowded tourist version you see during the day.
Private gondola on the canals — one of the most intimate and cinematic experiences in Venice. The smaller canals away from the Grand Canal are quiet, beautiful, and feel entirely private.
View of gondolas from San Marco Square — the row of gondolas along the Molo with the lagoon and San Giorgio in the background is one of Venice’s most romantic views, best in the early morning or at golden hour.
Basilica della Salute — view from San Giorgio Island — for couples who want something unexpected, the view across the water toward the Salute is breathtaking and rarely photographed at its best.
Rialto Bridge — canal view — the Grand Canal from the Rialto at dawn, when the vaporetti are just starting to move and the light hits the water at a low angle, is genuinely stunning.
Secret bridges and hidden calli — Venice has hundreds of smaller bridges and streets away from the main tourist routes where you’ll find complete privacy and the authentic atmosphere of the city.
Secret rooftops — panoramic views over the terracotta rooftops and the lagoon, away from the crowds entirely. A perspective on Venice that most visitors never get to experience.
Luxury hotels — if you’re staying at one of Venice’s beautiful hotels, the private garden, terrace, or canal entrance can make for an extraordinary start to your session before we head out into the streets.
When to shoot — and why early morning is everything

Early morning is the best time for every session I shoot in Venice. The light is soft, the streets are empty, and everything feels like it belongs to just the two of you.
Honeymoon photography packages in Venice
Sessions start at €500 for 1 hour, but for a honeymoon session I recommend at least 2–3 hours to give the day real breathing room and cover multiple areas of the city.
— The Venice Story — 2 hours — €900 — the most popular choice for honeymoon couples: proposal + relaxed walk through 2–3 areas, edited photos, private online gallery.
— Full Venice Experience — 3 hours — €1,300 — the full story across 3–4 areas, maximum variety, the most flexibility for privacy and pace. This is what I recommend if you want the complete Venice experience.
You can also add a private gondola from €120, photo + video from €950, or a luxury water taxi for shots along the Giudecca canal.
