“June 11, 2011. It started just like most days for me. It was a beautiful Saturday morning and I was making myself a cup of coffee to sit and enjoy the morning breeze on my patio overlooking the city. At the time, I lived in a high-rise condominium tower just a few miles from downtown Phoenix, Arizona. It was probably 80 degrees and the sun was just peaking around the adjacent tower to my building, providing just enough shade to enjoy the view without being blinded.
I pulled up my laptop and just started surfing Facebook to see what everyone was up to. Most of the posts were typical – i.e. pictures of people’s food, an inspirational quote or two – basically the daily highlight reel. I was just scrolling down the feed, certainly not expecting to see anything out of the ordinary or life changing. But then, I saw something, or should I say… someone. I nearly spilled my coffee down my shirt as I leaned forward to adjust my position in the chair. I quickly set my cup down and clicked on the picture that had caught my attention so strongly. I couldn’t believe it. All I could think of was, “Is this the same girl?” She was so beautiful. She was stunning. Her hair was this deep shade of reddish-brown (I’m color blind so you’ll have to forgive me, that’s all I got). Her smile was perfect in every way, but it was her eyes that really struck me. She looked so confident. So secure in her beauty.
